Activities at the Circle of Arts
Studio 45 Dancers
Studio 45 was established in 2007 has successfully trained the Charlevoix area youth for the past 3 years. Under the direction of Debora Knight, the school has broadened the curriculum to accommodate the recreational dancer as well as the serious student. Studio 45 has held the philosophy that dance should be for every one and that exposure to the arts gives young and old alike the best outlet of expression.
The staff provides safe positive self discipline, a warm and caring atmosphere where many of our adolescents feel comfortable sharing problems and issues that could sometimes stop them from continuing. This is done through a listening ear but more importantly through focus on their dance progress and positive learning.
Our goal is to continue in to the future with solid dance training, continuing education programs for our teachers and to make dance available to all who wish to enjoy it.
The "Norman Brumm Artists' Reference Library" is open to all during normal business hours and contains over two hundred volumes. Books on wildlife, scenery, art, art history, art techniques, famous artists, interior design, glass, architecture and many other categories. These volumes were graciously donated by Dawson and Joann Way, family of the nationally known Norman Brumm, a copper enamel artist who lived and worked in Charlevoix and who passed away in early 2008.
The Docent Program at Charlevoix Circle of Arts is a full-fledged program that keeps us open to the public and maintains our exhibits, informational center and gallery. They number over 70 and all have completed well established docent training sessions so they are informed and able to serve the public by providing information about classes, events, exhibits, and membership. They know how to open and close and maintain the basics of our facility.
