Dream to Reality explores that path through the mythological illustrations and writing of Charlevoix artist Kim Richelle. Richelle will discuss her work, read from the newly released hard cover of Banshee, Shed the Cloak of Control and sign her books.

Earliest Mythology & Symbolism

Part of our DREAM TO REALITY exhibition with Charlevoix artist Kim Richelle. Kim explores human mythology and symbolism from earliest cave art, jewelry, burial practices and how the same practices are shared throughout indigenous peoples and cultures from the Norse and Celtic to the Native Americans. She walks visitors through the wheel of the elements and directions and astrological observations.

Presenters include Charlevoix resident Sandy Witherspoon; Sandy McSauba, direct descendant of Chief Louis McSauba; and Yvonne Walker Keshick, renowned quill artist and National Heritage Fellow.

GALLERY TALK with
MARY STEWART ADAMS

Part of our DREAM TO REALITY exhibition! Mary Stewart Adams is a Star Lore Historian and host of the weekly public radio segment and podcast “The Storyteller’s Night Sky,” designed to restore the mythic grandeur of knowing the stars. Mary leads audiences in the delightful connection between the night sky and the cultural arts such as nursery rhymes, fairy tales and mythologies. Mary will discuss her new book, Star Tales of Mother Goose, which is designed to awaken the imagination in relationship to the stars as a companion to the science of astronomy. It is wonderfully illustrated by her sister and collaborator, Patricia DeLisa. In 2011, Mary led the team that established the 9th International Dark Sky Park in the world near Mackinac Bridge.
